Chancellor/Provost November meetings:

- Academic Development-Campus Gateway Project:
- How is it funded? Hunden Group performed an economic feasibility study-that study was funded via private funding, not university funds.
- Work has started on infrastructure that is needed before the actual building phase; plans are still in the works and are not finalized.
- Source of Funding: State & Federal monies (not tuition or general use KU funds) and Endowment funding, along with Athletics.
- Addition of a convention center allows for partnership with the City of Lawrence.
Comment: FS staff have been invited to join a conversation regarding parking changes. Please reinforce in meetings on campus; there are 200 parking spaces being removed.
There could be a parking garage installation, but the conversation is on-going with no specific decision-making has been made at this time.
- Academic Development-Campus Gateway Project:
- Staff Recruiting and Retention: keeping a conversation connection of staff and the important part we play.
- Market study results
- Professional development: specifically targeting our FS colleagues.
- Winter break update: pressure on KBOR to approve the closure of campus statewide.
Provost meeting notes:
- HRM reorganization email was being shared with campus
- Efficiency solutions: systems, workflow, staffing
- Student and faculty satisfaction surveys
- Communications: with campus, plan to reach out to Karla Leeper, VC Strategic Communications and Public Affairs
- Thanked for her role in Winter Break, stressed Juneteenth messaging moving forward.
Shared Governance-the project is moving along, and are still taking survey responses.

- Diversity and Inclusion – Marissa Marshall, Scott Cossel (elect)
- Fall semester newsletter has been posted on the Staff Senate website
- UWIW-moving spring semester sessions to morning (as requested by course evals)

- Nov/Dec meetings were cancelled, Jan meeting is scheduled for Jan 24th @ 1pm on Zoom. If interested in joining, please reach out to Todd or Michelle.
- Professional Development – Candace Bond

- Public Relations – Justin Runge
- Newsletter change in formats created a delay. Any EOY reports would be welcome to add. Please send EOD no later that Thursday, 12/15/22. Justin will work with Scott on formatting, hopefully later this week.
- Human Resources – Jeff Chasen
- Reviewed 1st draft of market study data and new structure and equity component plans
- Wellness director position has been posted and first reviews should happen soon.
- Goal of the HRM realignment-assurances of no loss of jobs, looking into systems and additional services that help encourage employee growth and development. Conversations around resources and true intent on these topics are active.

- Technology ad hoc committee: solicit volunteers from KU Staff Senate and/or KU wide email or KU Today
Deanne Arensberg, Terri Hurtado, Kevin Liu and Scott Cossel will work on what are the needs for Teams and website updates. Any others interested, please reach out to Scott.
